Abstract

The peri-urban areas of Latin American cities register environmental problems linked to expansion processes. In the peri-urban area of Mar del Plata, General Pueyrredon District, the growth of the city translates into land use incompatibilities that have led to conflicts over the application of agrochemicals. This work traces the trajectory of the conflict while proposing to analyze the current regulations referring to the regulation of agrochemicals based on the development of thematic cartography. Based on official data, field surveys and interviews, maps were prepared using a Geographic Information System that allowed analyzing the potential and limitations of the implementation of the regulations. Current regulations show contradictions that limit their application. However, in the territory a paradigm shift in the way of production is gaining increasing strength that seeks to move towards more sustainable alternative models
